| Obituary: |
C. R. "Poke" Fleming, 87 of Wagoner passed away Wednesday May 9th surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 12, 1925, in Cherokee County to parents W.A. "Windy" and Bertha (Harding) Fleming. Poke retired from the Oklahoma State Highway Department as a supervisor in 1987. He was an avid Horse Racing fan. He trained horses in his earlier years and loved to watch them run at the track and on television. Poke cherished time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved playing cards and the slots at the Casino or on his computer at home. Poke really enjoyed watching the Oklahoma Sooners and St. Louis Rams on television. Poke was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Carolyn Fleming, three brothers, Vernie, Bill and A. B. Fleming. He is survived by his wife Nadine of the home, daughter Lakita Mayfield and her husband Jack of Coweta, sons Nick and his wife Mary Sue of Wagoner and Mike and his wife Sandy of Wagoner, along with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services for Poke were held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Shipman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Carl Murphy officiating and Chaplain Bill Holcomb. Burial followed to Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner, Oklahoma.
